LANCASTER, Calif. (June 17, 2009) – Preliminary games were completed today with 128 teams qualifying for advancement to quarterfinals that will be played Friday, June 18, at Lancaster National Soccer Center in Lancaster, Calif.

With a win and a tie under their belt from the first two days of prelims, CO Rush Nike Under-15 Girls were looking for a win over Eclipse (AK) today. Mary Schwappach (5:00) and Briana Campos (12:00) scored in the first half for Colorado to take a 2-0 lead. Lindsey Horan's 49th minute shot extended Colorado's lead to 3-0 and Campos netted her second goal in the 52nd for the 4-0 victory. Colorado will face Evergreen Green (WA) in quarterfinals.

Annie Kunz of Colorado finished her third hat trick of the Region IV Championships to solidify the Under-16 Girls CO Rush Nike's 5-2 win over AK Rush and seat them in the quarterfinals round.  Kelsey Loupee (20:00), Haley Stading (55:00) and Annie Kunz (62:00, 64:00 and 72:00) scored Colorado's five goals before Cassandra Hanna and Jordon Shunk scored for Alaska in the 80th and 88th minutes.

West Coast FC is advancing three teams into the quarterfinals in the Under-13, Under-14 and Under-16 Boys age group.

The West Coast FC (CA-S) Under-13 Boys moved one step closer to claiming back-to-back regional championships after today's 8-0 win over Maui United (HI). Brian Pacheco (9:00) (70:00), Christian Carrillo (15:00) (63:00), Trevor Hyman (19:00), Cruz Corral (30:00), Juan Espinoza (49:00), Kevin De Niz (62:00) all scored for West Coast.

The Under-14 Boys West Coast FC (CA-S) also held their opponent, La Roca PO (UT) scoreless. Tyler Boyd opened with 2nd minute goal and La Roca's defense held off West Coast's offense until the 63rd minute when Kevin Baboiyan scored for a 2-0 West Coast lead. Justin Dhillon chipped it the last West Coast goal in the 70th for the 3-0 win. West Coast faces Arsenal FC in Friday's quarterfinal match.

Blue Knight Premier (UT) put up a fight against the Under-16 Boys West Coast FC (CA-S). Lucas Dallorso and Juan Gutierrez scored for West Coast in the 21st and 35th minutes for the 2-0 advantage. The Knight's Nathanael Villegas shot one past the keeper in the 72nd, but it came a little too late. West Coast won 2-1 and secured their slot in the quarterfinals where they will meet Crossfire Premier (WA).

On a return trip to regionals, Under-18 Boys WSM Internationals are looking to go all the way in 2009 and starting out as undefeated through prelims is a good sign. The toughest game came today as they played Rio Vista FC (NM). The teams were evenly matched, and Rio Vista held off WSM until the 75th minute when WSM's Erik Hurtado found the back of the net. Hurtado scored a second goal in the 82nd and teammate Marie Mwanga gave WSM the 3-0 win with his goal during stoppage time.
