Semifinal Pairings Set for US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships
LAS VEGAS (June 22, 2007) - Dreams were realized today at the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships as 64 teams advance to the semifinals. Only four teams remain in each age group as teams look forward to their chance at a lucrative spot at the US Youth Soccer National Championships at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

The defending three-time national champions, Under-18 Boys Arsenal went up against the San Diego Surf a fellow California South team in today's quarterfinals. Arsenal Coach Steve Lucey said before the game, "Arsenal will play Surf in the quarterfinal match, which will be a formidable challenge. Surf is extremely talented and always elevates their game when they play us."

"The boys are unique in how they handle adversity. We lost three starters recently, but I don't see any reason why we can't win it all again. We take every game seriously,? said Lucey. ?This wasn?t wone of our bust games, but it was against a great team. It isn't always about the best game, sometimes it is just about results. Today was more results than anything."

The Arsenal were very assertive on the field today. Eric Moran had a great game scoring two crucial goals (11:00) (76:00). Cito Soriano scored the second (44:00).

Real Colorado Nationals came back to tie in the final minutes of play to send the game into double over time and eventually penalty kicks. The Under-18 TSA 89 Red?s Analisa Marquez struck in the 32nd to put Arizona up 1-0 going into the half. Aleah Degeneres (Colo.) tied the game in the 83rd minute to send the game into overtime. Arizona's Stephanie McCurry scored in the 110th and Real Colorado's Jessica Richardson scored in the 110th.  Real Colorado persevered and due to a strong performance, earned their way to tomorrow's semifinals.

Washington's Under-12 Boys Eastside FC 94 Red goes up against Arizona's SC del Sol Xtreme White in tomorrow's semifinal match. Eastside settled their match 3-1 against a challenging Colorado Fort Collins Arsenal Gold. Eastside Head Coach Dan Strom said, "Today was a tough game and Colorado was a tough team and they played very well." The Xtreme went to penalty kicks against Hawaii's Abunai 95 after finishing overtime still tied at 2-2. The boys didn't slow down at all and the Xtreme won the shootout, 4-3.

Complete scores from today's action are below.
