The Host Organizing
Committee in Las Vegas is pleased to have secured a number of fields
in Las Vegas to provide visiting teams an opportunity to schedule
practices in advance of tournament play. Five natural turf fields
have been secured at Desert Breeze Park, and three natural and two
synthetic fields have been secured at Ed Fountain Park. No
practice is allowed on either the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex fields,
or on the grass fields at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex. The
fields at both Desert Breeze and Ed Fountain are heavily used
throughout the year, and their condition in June may not be “game
quality”. However, they are suitable for training sessions.
Since we have secured
ten fields for practice, and we will have nearly 250 teams in town for
the Far West Regionals, we ask that you be mindful that the fields
will have to be shared by a number of teams.
These practice fields
are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No times and
fields will be assigned to visiting teams. However, with ten fields
available, there should be ample practice space. We do ask that all
teams exercise courtesy in sharing practice space with other teams.
The practice fields
that have been secured at Desert Breeze and Ed Fountain Parks will be
available beginning on Friday evening, June 15, and will also be
available all day Saturday, June 16 and all day Sunday, June 17.
Practices may begin as early as 8:00 am, and may continue until dark.
All of the fields are full-size, and most have goals. After June 1st,
please call (702) 870-3024 or send an e-mail to Andrea Thompson at
usysnv@aol.com to secure a copy of a field use permit for use in
practicing on these fields. It is advisable that you carry the
permit with you while using these fields.
Directions and maps to
both parks are provided below.
