July 22-24: Sunday morning
starting out with early practice at Tarbut. Later that day we
arrived at John Wayne Airport excited to compete for our third
national championship. We landed in Texas safely and found our
way to the hotel. The chef made us some yummy quesadillas and
we were off to bed.
We were supposed to practice at 7am the next morning but
our room accidentally slept in a half hour longer. We finally
woke up to Ed pounding on our door and with un-brushed teeth
we hurried down to the cars waiting outside. However, this was
not the only thing that made us behind schedule. We spent at
least an hour making U-turns and getting on and off freeways
looking for the field complex. Our butts were soar from
bouncing on the back seat but at least we had time to get the
sleep out of our eyes. We finally found the fields using
Alyssa’s satellite map on her cell phone
The rest of the morning we lounged around playing games,
watching movies and relaxing. We headed to the mall for a few
hours and went to get pizza later.
Getting to practice the next morning went much smoother and we
got there in less than 20 minutes. As we got back to the hotel
we fought over who would get to shower first so we could get
more time to primp up for the luncheon. With dresses on and
our hair out if its usual ponytail we headed to take pictures
in the lobby. The only time this trip you will see us out of
soccer clothes or sweats.
Now we are off to bed early to get a good nights rest. We
know what we have to do tomorrow and we are eager to get our
first game out of the way. Slammer time!
