July 25, 2006

By: Kevin Werbner, Danny Ortiz, and Kyle Ochoa

Today I awoke to a beautiful Iowan day, dark clouds looming over head and rain coming down.  We walked outside and it was hotter than a witches… well more humid than anything, but anyways.  We went to our banquet where there were a lot good looking guys in nice clothes, oh and girls too.  The banquet was kind of boring, but we got free food and got to see our competition.  After the banquet we had practice later on where I started sweating profusely due to the high humidity.  Upon leaving practice we went to eat at a classy strip mall in down town no where.  After observing the locals, our attention was drawn to the odd amount of lightning and thunder flashing and roaring outside.  Once the storm settled a little, we went to the fields and basked in the beauty of the pitches.  Once arriving to the hotel the electricity was out, creating for a dark, unpleasant experience sitting in the downstairs lobby.  After the electricity was fired up again we proceeded upstairs to prepare for our game that is on the horizon of tomorrow.

As the alarm went off at 5:30 this morning Danny and I immediately looked at each other and hit the snooze button trying to catch all the minutes of sleep before our 6 a.m. run, which Kyle forgot to mention.  As we made our way down to the lobby Omar (another teammate) of course had to use the computer to check the myspace and facebook pages which made Danny angry because he thought we would be late for the run.

Ok so yea after our little nap we had to get ready for the luncheon which included some pretty girls; which is always a plus. After the post luncheon nap haha we got ready for our training session in the beautiful state of Iowa. It was pretty fun you know a little soccer tennis which included a lot of cheating (by Xavier and Christian), some shooting, and a 7 a side. Oh yea I forgot to tell you guys about Werb and I  the San Diego State duo winning the soccer tennis tourney, just thought I would throw that out there. After training we stopped at this place called Hy-Vee……yea I don’t know about that name. So anyway we come home to total darkness at the hotel due to the massive lighting storm that was going on here.  After about 20 minutes of waiting the power finally came back on and we were able to get up to our rooms.  Well that is about it for today make sure you check back in tomorrow to find out how we do in our first game and of course another edition of the Werb and Dan special! LAAAAAAAAAATER!!
