BOYS U-18 -- Arizona -- Sereno '86 White

Friday, July 23

The Sereno Boys finished bracket play last night with 3-3 tie vs. Houston Texans. Regardless of the result we had finished first in our bracket of four and finished as the only undefeated team (7 points). All players played significant minutes. It was a nice team result as we got down 2-0 and then came back to earn a draw. What a competitive team we have. Even in a game that supposedly means nothing we still never want to lose a game.

Today we had a nice but sharp practice. All players are healthy and ready to go. It has been a long week but we know what we have to do. Tomorrow is going to be war. We are prepared and ready for battle!

Our team slogan is...A Champions Heart is Never Satisfied....

Sereno Boys were off today but had a nice short crisp practice at Disney complex at 10:30 am...all the guys are loose, confident and ready to get the games on. After our water recovery program (after practice) we were on our own until this evening. Some of the guys went to the movies, the mall, etc. Ben is feeling much better after his game injury vs. Busch on Weds morning. Cody and Andrew's room smells real bad. Could be the two goalkeeper roomates they have.

Team dinner tonight.

We had an early game today (7:30 am) vs. St. Louis Busch Soccer Club....we were up for this game even know it was early...much stuff has been written on the GotSoccer.com web site about how Busch was going to dominate at Regionals...

Our preparation for this game started last night at the Black Angus Restaurant. Close bonding began after dinner. See picture enclosed.

We kicked butt today and beat Busch 2-0. Now we are in the finals Sunday! Opponent to be determined.

Today we took it easy, played cards, met with family and just hung out. Off day tomorrow even though Harry has us training in the morning...i wish he would just let us sleep in!

Time for our daily team meeting and scouting report.

We did our normal Denny's Restaurant run for breakfast today at 7 am...of course everybody sat in the exact same places. This started in Post Falls (Spokane) when we made our run to the Regional Championship. Denny's every day until we won the Championship. Vicki (Denny's manager) is taking good care of use.

We took a nice walk in the rain after breakfast. Everybody was nice and rested. After our training yesterday morning most of the guys were exhausted. Harry was pissed off and getting on everyone. I think we were just jet lagged. Harry gave us the afternoon off and we totally rested up. That was what we needed. sleep and good food.

Our game today was at 11:30 am against the Boston Bolts coached by John Kerr, Harvard University. They kind of confused us at first and took most of the possession until about 30 minutes in. We figured it out and started to take the game over. Unfortunately, we gave a goal in the 55 minute. The guys showed no sign of problem. We kept our composure and got a goal just minutes later off a goal from Brandon McDonald (assist Rob Valentino). Then we started feeling it and got the game winner from Mike Manone. Game over!

We are just sitting around resting now. Early game at 7:30 am....yikes that is early! It's Busch (St. Louis) time tomorrow.

Sereno Boys alive and well and ready to get it done this year...third time is a charm!

Today we trained in the light rain. Harry kicked our butts at practice. He always winds us up before the big tournaments. We have a few aches and pains but nothing big. See photo of Brandon McDonald and Captain Mike Gavin at the opening ceremony.

Rest today, rub downs later on and dinner we go!
