Major parental arrival today. Got up, stretched and jogged in preparation for the first
game. It's still raining. Off to the buffet in the hotel where we played a new game with
the waiters called "Guess the Player Position". Apparently they only
"moonlight" as waiters since they got 3/4 of the team right and claimed to be
coaches and soccer players!
Returned to the room and watched "Last Samurai", met up with parents just
before leaving for the first game and finally the rain stopped. Team didn't get the result
it hoped for, disappointed but determined, met at 9:30 in Don's room for a review. And so
to bed.

9:30am (6:30 California time ... yuck!) off to the courtyard, guess who were late,
Bauer, Bagheri and Nate! Third time in a row. BJ "got lost" in the hotel, no
idea how he managed to make it here from BYU. All headed to our rooms to get dolled up for
the Player Luncheon at 11:30. Cal South looked presentable in shirts and ties but
maintained California casual - unlike some other teams with full matching ties and
jackets.
It rained and it rained and it rained, no practice, back to the room to watch
"Boondock Saints" which everyone enjoyed. And so to bed at 10:30. Big day
tomorrow.

Woke up and met with team at 11:00am for a team meeting in the courtyard. Bauer,
Bagheri and Nate were late! We were given until 5:15 to do our own thing - so we headed
back to the room. Brad read "The Da Vinci Code" in 4 hours. James got in an
extra four hours sleep (he's already read the book!) and David watched the Tour de France.
Left for practice at 5:30pm - no navigation problems this time and another chance to
get used to the humidity. Dinner tonight in the team room, Chevy's enchilada's. BJ arrived
from BYU.
We are becoming room hermits. Others cruised the lobby for girls. 9:30am start
tomorrow.

Friday: Today we flew out from LAX to Orlando on United Airlines. The flight was
relatively smooth but the whole team was stuck with middle seats which was a negative
especially for the tall guys. We arrived in Orlando on time at 11:00pm where Court, Kyle
and Willie's bags were nowhere to be found and James left his CD's on the plane!
After getting the rental vans and traveling to the hotel , we checked in at 12:30am
then went to get something to eat. Brad, James and David walked to McDonalds in Downtown
Disney, while others walked to another shopping center taking a taxi back to the hotel
since it was a long way. We all got to sleep eventually at 3am.
Saturday: We all woke up to meet Coaches Don, Greg and Bubba for a courtyard meeting at
noon. Already the humidity was getting to us, with everyone complaining about how thick
the air felt. After the meeting, the team went to IHOP to eat where there was an IQ tester
at every table to occupy our time and start a friendly competition.
When we finished, it was back to the hotel and back to bed for many of us. We slept
until it was time to leave at 5:15 for practice. Due to the navigational skills of our
drivers, we promptly got lost for 45 minutes. (Thank goodness they make better coaches!)
Finally after driving around, we arrived at the Complex and practiced hard for 75 minutes,
then back to the hotel for pizza, didn't get lost this time! After finishing dinner, we
walked around Downtown Disney until it was time to go back to the hotel for bed at
midnight. Goodnight and watch this space for photos. |
