at the US Youth Soccer National Championships |
ORLANDO, FL (July 21, 2004) - The US Youth Soccer National Championships continued
today at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex with evening action in the Under-16 group.
The Boys Under-16 division continues to excite with two well-contested matches, each
ending in 1-1 draws. Defending US Youth Soccer National Champion Casa Mia Bays (Maryland)
found the back of the net at the 67-minute mark, with Chicago Magic's Paul Kopec tying the
match just nine minutes later.
The other boys match of the night was a defensive stalemate until Mouhamad Assi of the
Texans 87/88 (South Texas) opened up scoring at 39:00. FC United's (Washington) Ciaran
O'Brien found the back of the net at 66:00. The Texans finish Day 2 with 4 points.
The Slammers FC (California South) downed defending US Youth Soccer National Champion
New Jersey's PDA Wildcats 2-0 tonight. The Slammers Brianna Bak found the back of the net
twice with goals in the second and 52nd minutes, respectively.
The Eclipse Select (Illinois) also shutout the Renegades, of host state Florida, 2-0.
Eclipse's Brittany McCoy scored at the 12- and 24-minute marks to give Illinois the win.
The Slammers FC and Eclipse are both undefeated and head into the last day of preliminary
play with 4 points each.
Play resumes tomorrow morning in the Under-14 and Under-19 divisions.
The 2004 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, providing approximately 124,000
players on 7,200 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to
showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing
teamwork, discipline and fair play, is the country's most prestigious national youth

competitions for boys and girls teams in multiple age brackets.
