Game day... Waking up to a nice hot, sunny morning we strolled down to the Watercrest
Cafe for a scrumptious team breakfast at 10:00 am. At this point we knew that it was most
definitely going to be a scortching, humid day so we all decided it would be best to head
back to the rooms and stay in the cool environment to rest before our big match at 8:00pm.
We had a very eventful afternoon full of excitement and adventure.... for instance laying
in bed and watching movies for 6 hours straight and intense rounds of Gin Rummy. When the
clock struck four, our awesome manager Becky provided with us with yummy subway sandwiches
as we were viewing our highlight videos from regionals. Once we were finished with our
early dinner, we headed down to the Oxford room for a 6:00 pm meeting with our coaches
Colin and Ada. Colin performed a very inspirational poem as well as the winning game plan.
We all exited the room with great pride and confidence, ready to conquer World Class
Soccer from New Jersey. Everyone played their hearts out, leaving everything on the field.
We left victorious! Immediately after we got back to the hotel the entire team went down
to the pool to have a team pool workout before we lay our heads to sleep.

It was finally time for us to sleep in! We all enjoyed breakfast on our own time and
met at 11 for a nice , hot, steamy walk over to the AMC Theaters. With sweat glistening
our foreheads we proudly bought our 7 dollar movie tickets for the one and only Oscar
winning Shrek 2. After a tear jerking movie we went on to bust a move on DDRE (aka Dance Dance Revolution
Extreme). With hunger gurgling in our stomachs we stuffed our faces with carbohydrates and
meat (aka sandwiches). Feeling fully satisfied many went on to browse the outlets or take
naps (cuz some of us are still tired after the time difference). We arrived in the lobby
at 7 o'clock sharp to be transported in our space age vehicles (aka silver and bronze 15
passenger vans) to the Wide World of Sports Complex. Our most sincere apologies to those
we left behind. Being safely dropped off, we geared up and gladly partook in a high energy
and productive practice. Next we relished in our daily pool workout where DDRE really
payed off in the competition. We went our separate ways to fill our stomachs with
sustanance. From then on we slowly dozed off into a deep slumber (unless you are the
people writing this at 11:30 p.m.).

p.s. Today was definitely a debauchal of epic proportions

This morning we woke up at five to have breakfast at 5:30. The game started at 7:30...
and the rest is history. Let's just say that there was a meltdown, but we'll get it back
on Friday. We headed to the hotel for a pool workout to relax our muscles. For the rest of
the day we all had some alone time to think about this mornings events. The team didn't
meet again until 8pm, for an emotional, heartfelt meeting, with Colin and Ada. After some
serious tears we were all reminded how much we love eachother and what we came here to do.
The day ended on a happier note, and we all went to bed to dream about Friday's victory.
See you in the morning! Let's hope it is a better day tomorrow.

July 20... Game Day! Arising from bed at 8 am was astoundingly refreshing. With our game
faces on and our bagels in hand we were quite the sight; singing to our favorite warm up
songs, by the all stars; Tina Turner, Vanilla Ice, and the Spicy Spice girls. After our
delectable breakfast, JJ Johnson donated Lance Armstrong wrist bands with the motivational
word: LIVESTRONG. We sported them on our right wrists, and dashingly exited the Wyndam
Palace. We headed to Disney's Wide World of Sports where our first battle was to be played
torrential downpours. Our oponent....Michigan Hawks is what they like to call themselves.
After a grueling 45 minutes of play, the match was still scoreless. After an inspiring pep
talk by our two top dawg coaches; Colin and Ada, we learned to trust one another and were
rewarded in the final two minutes of play. Jamie Blanche blasted a remarkable ball over to
leading goal scorer Amy Epsten to clinch the game, as we prevailed. Victory was sweet!
After lunch we put on our sexy bikinis and went for a pool workout and stretch at the
hotel. Dinner was to follow at our favorite restaurant Wolfgang Puck, where we devoured
barbeque chicken quesadillas and collossal amounts of refreshing ice water, also our
favorite. We returned to our palace and are going to bed early so we can kick some Georgia
butt in the morning! Heart you all, The Young Sisters!
XOXO

Last day of preparation before the games begin... We got another early start to
our day this morning with an 8 am practice. It didn't last long however, due to the
pouring rain. We returned from practice, showered, busted out all sorts of irons,
and beautified ourselves for the opening ceremony/luncheon. To be honest seeing our
teammates dressed up, and Colin and Ada in ties freaked us out just a little bit.
After having fun for our first three days in Orlando, the luncheon got us all thinking about our game
tomorrow, and reminded us what we came here to do: Win! Our will power was severly
tested as we were forced to stare down the chocolate cake that Ada forbid us to eat.
Luckily we all survived without the cake and are all stronger for it, not to mention a
couple steps quicker. After the luncheon we were quick to get back in our soccer
clothes. The whole team crashed in Amy's room and witnessed a "Miracle" on
DVD. It was very inspirational, and got us even more pumped up for tomorrows
game. After the movie we headed to Macaroni Grill for pre-game pasta, but as usual
nobody finished their pasta due to our inability to lay off the pre pasta bread.
Colin and Ada walked off the meal and we followed in the Vans to our first official team
meeting. After 45 minutes of strategy, bathroom jokes, and reflection on our past
years together we decided to skip the pool workout and go to bed in preparation for our
first game of the national championship series. See you in Amy and JJ's room at 8:30
for team breakfast tomorrow! Good Night, and Go Surf!

Another beautiful, rainy, humid day in Orlando...We woke up early for practice
that was supposed to be only an hour long, but as usual, we snuck in a whole two hours on our
soon to be game fields, filled with sweat and mugginess. The fields are
absolutely perfect, it's a dream come true! After showering we split into two groups
and headed off to the Epcot center where we learned the importance of communication and
technology. After touring and eating around the countries, we saw the
dolphins! Our favorite countries were Mexico and Japan. The other
group that went to Disney World had quite an adventure. We cheated through the lines on
Space Mountain (twice), Splash and Thunder Mountains and got some standup comedy from our
hilarious coaches. It was a lot of fun...then we grabbed some dinner at Wolfgang
Puck and caught the shuttle back to the hotel and got ready for our pool
workout. After a brisk stretch led by Coach Ada and some laughter in the hot tub
with Colin and Ada and some other young energetic and annoying teams, we headed back
to our rooms for showers and bedtime. Tomorrow is when we crack the whip and
get to business, we are about 48 hours away from our first game and it's time to stop
vacationing and get serious. See you tomorrow!

Where to begin...another day in the quest to becoming National Champions starts off
bright and early with a brisk jog through Downtown Disney. With our fearless leader,
Coach Ada leading the
way running us like a madman, we got to explore Downtown. It wasn't until our new
friend the Disney police man prohibited us from running in the park that we got a
break. It was time to head back to the hotel for some real showers, instead of
simply dripping in sweat, and a much needed nap. We woke up to a trip to the local
market to get some groceries and lots of water. Then, it was time to head off to an
early dinner to celebrate Marisol's 18th birthday. She is the last one on the team
to turn into a legal adult (look out, hint hint), and TGI Friday's serenaded her in
balloons. We headed back to the hotel to go to sleep before a tough practice
tomorrow. That's all for today but remember that if you have never had a Jack
Daniel's tower from TGI Friday's, you have not lived. CHEESE IS GOOD!!! PEACE OUT!

Today was the beginning of our quest for the National title. We began our day by
congregating at the San Diego Airport. We all managed to board the plane hassle-free and
without delay and therefore began our departure to Houston. Once we got off the plane our
stomachs were growling so we headed off to the food court for some delicious, yet
overpriced airport grub. We passed the layover by watching Friends on DVD and reading
magazines; we boarded the overly heated airplane and continued on to our last destination:
Tampa, Florida. Upon arriving in Florida we were welcomed by a woman with a mean mullet
and an elderly man with questionable fashion sense, as well as a limo bus to transport us
to our hotel. Because Orlando was an hour and a half away from the airport we had to
entertain ourselves in the limo and did so by watching our Regional highlight DVD and
busting out some tunes to classic favorites to pump us up for the upcoming matches. We
arrived at Wyndham Palace and settled in but not without some home-style cuisine:
Wendys and McDonalds, our last unhealthy meal. With our tummies full and
sleepy eyes, we settled down for bed time and prepared ourselves for the days to come.

You think you know but you have no idea. This is the diary of Surf Girls Under 18
White
The Surf GU18W 85 team is traveling to Orlando with a very impressive
past and bright hopes for Nationals. The team started ten years ago and has been
dominating ever since. The best part of this team is the unique bond that we all share and
the genuine sincerity for one another. Every player on the roster contributes equally,
even with some ACL tears. Our subs and our starting 11 are interchangeable and we proved
to be unstoppable at Regionals, playing undefeated and eventually beating Colorado Rush
1-0 in the Finals. Look out for this team in the future at very many top Division 1
Schools and we are also proud to say that each player on the eighteen person roster is
continuing their playing career in college, injured or not. Go Surf! |
