Linda
Bolin
Hall of Fame Inductee 2005
Long-Standing Region IV Secretary
Few
people have served U.S. Youth Soccer, Region IV as long and as well as
Linda Bolin. Throughout her years as Secretary and at times,
Secretary/Treasurer, Linda saw the growth of youth soccer not only in
Region IV, but across the nation as well. She was witness to the
advancement of the game and the development of programs in our member
states, and was present at many “first-time” events in the history of
Region IV.
Linda began her
volunteer career in youth soccer in 1975 when as a parent volunteer, she
lent her services as a Registrar for New Mexico’s AYSO group. In 1977
she made the transition to US Youth Soccer, as a recruiter for a then
new U-10 age group being formed. She served New Mexico Youth Soccer
both at the club, league and state level until 1982, when she took on
Region IV Registrar responsibilities.
Elected to the position
of Secretary/Treasurer for Region IV in 1984, Linda filled the dual role
until the positions were separated in 1995. And from 1995 till 2004,
she kept the Council minutes as Secretary. Additionally, Linda worked
numerous Far West Regionals tracking red and yellow cards, and assisting
with administration.
For over twenty years, Linda has
given her love and energy to the players, the states and the programs of
Region IV, and we are grateful.
She will be inducted at the 2006 US Youth Soccer Workshop in Houston,
Texas. |
