Hall of Fame Inductee 2002
Former US Youth Soccer Chairman and New Mexico Youth Soccer President
honored for years of dedicated service to US Youth Soccer.
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 20, 2002) -Darl Rose, The Director of US Youth Soccer Region IV,
has announced the third inductee into the Region IV Hall of Fame. Nominations are
requested from the member States of Region IV. This year's honoree, VIRGIL LEWIS, was
chosen from a group of highly qualified candidates.
Mr. Rose
reviewed the committee selection and stated, "I am very pleased to announce that
VIRGIL LEWIS, past president of the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association and past chairman
of the US Youth Soccer Association, has been selected as the 2003 Region IV Hall of Fame
inductee. Virgil worked tirelessly for his State, Region IV, and US Youth Soccer. His
tenure as the administrator for the Boys Olympic Development Program provided the
groundwork for the prestige that the program enjoys today. He was instrumental in
providing additional international competition and providing outstanding national as well
as international coaches to assist in the development of our players". The award
presentation will take place during the Region IV Council meeting in Indianapolis, IN on
February 6, 2003. Our congratulations to Virgil for this honor."
