When you read all the referee honors that Trever has received, as
well as the significant games he has officiated, it comes as bit of
a shock to learn that this 16 year-old Grade 8 only became a referee
in 2005. Prior to that, he had been a player who enjoyed the sport,
but found the etiquette and camaraderie of the referee community to
be more to his liking. As with most of our Young Referee
candidates, Trever is a very bright young man with numerous school
honors and a GPA of 3.87. In almost every case, the people who
supported Trever’s nomination cite his professionalism, his sense of
responsibility, and his commitment to officiating.
Region IV is pleased to name Trever Cox as its Young Male Referee
of the Year, and to put his name into consideration for the title of
U.S. Youth Soccer’s Young Male Referee of the Year. |
At age 18, Lauren Hansen has achieved a Referee Grade 7 and has
been actively officiating games in Arizona for over six years. In
addition to working matches there, she has worked Region IV Girls
ODP Camp, and was part of Arizona’s crew at Regionals in Boise
last year. Reading her endorsements in the nomination material
it becomes quickly apparent that she is well-liked wherever she
goes circles for her intellect and charm. In her opening letter,
she reveals herself as a student of eastern philosophy, and how
those teachings help in her approach to the game. As a member of
the National Honor Society, carrying a GPA of 3.84 in her senior
year, Lauren is also an accomplished scholar.
Region IV is pleased to name Lauren Hansen as its Young Female
Referee of the Year, and to put her name into consideration for
the title of U.S. Youth Soccer’s Young Female Referee of the Year. |
