Congratulations to Sam Herbert of Arizona for being selected US Youth Soccer Young Male Referee of the Year! 

Raised in a referee family where Dad and four older siblings were all soccer officials, Sam Herbert came to love refereeing, and has excelled at it.  At the tender age of twelve he worked his first “Regionals,” and has since worked five others.  Sam has a FIFA badge as one of his goals, but finds the very process of excellence in officiating to be its own reward.  This bright and articulate 18 year old is not only accomplished on the soccer pitch where he enjoys the respect and admiration of both the Arizona and Regional referee communities, but he has drawn scholastic accolades as a member of the National Honor Society, and a well respected leader in student government both locally in Arizona and in the National Association of Student Councils.
